GRAHAM are delivering a new headquarters for Leeds Building Society at 24 Sovereign Street and the works consist of the complete internal and external refurbishment of the building over five floors.
The scope of the works and the associated Health & Safety risk assessments necessitated the road closure at Concordia Street to ensure the safety of the public and their personnel.
They did have feedback fregarding the inconvenience resulted in the closure being in place and the closure will be lifed to allow opening of the road from 15:00 Friday through to 08.00 Monday and bank holidays.
The project was initially a 59 week duration due for completion on Sept 2 of this year. Following the Government guidance in supporting of the NHS efforts, GRAHAM took the decision to close the site on the 27th of March. Since then the construction industry has been provided with guidance from Public Health England on how staff can return to work whilst maintaining two meter distance.
Upon review of this guidance GRAHAM are satisfied they can put measures in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of thier staff. They intent is to return to work from 18th of May.
They are currently evaluating the impact on thier programme due to the time off site and also how they can complete tasks where two meters distancing cannot be maintained. Inevitably this will requrie extension to the road closure period.
It is also their intention to approach the Council to request an extension of the working hours on a Saturday to allow us to work till 17:00 to aid them in managing works in line with the guidance.
They will be sending the attached lettter to residents. The orginnal road closer notice can be view here https://one.network/downloads/tm/notice-of-making-114149760-3169689.pdf
