Beeston Hill Residents Meeting

16/7/2018

Thank you to residents who joined us tonight. Myself, Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, Inner South Community Committee Meeting Officers and a West Yorkshire Police - Leeds South PCSO were there to give updates and take feedback from local people.reporting.
Tempest Road Crossing: LCC officers advised building work would start as of the 30 July 2018
Selective Licencing and Environmental Protection Orders: Beeston Hill will soon - if approved - have landlord licensing which should help tackle rogue landlords. LCC is also looking at extra powers to impose fines on those who don't look after the local environment.

Waste and Litter: You raised concerns about little and bin collections. As I reported last week - we're on to this and working with LCC officers, we're working on steps to reduce litter, fly tipping and improve bin collection rates. We're at the start of this process and will report back.

Pavement Parking: You raised frustration with people parking on the pavement. We advised of the legal powers the Police have and that only if the parked car prevented a pram/wheelchair from passing or it blocked a dropped curb - the Police had no powers to remove the car.

School Parking: You raised frustrations about inconsiderate parents blocking streets. We advised all schools have parking restrictions but the PCSOs and Officers can't be at every school and thus enforcement was incredibly hard. This is a Leeds wide problem.

Drug Dealing: You reported concerns about local dealers but residents didn't report this to the Police. The PCSO and we Cllrs stressed the need to report. Without the information - the Police can't act.

Anti-Social Behavior: As above. If people don't report, we can't act - and it takes time as it's a complex process.

Dog Fouling: As Above. We can't allocate a dog warden without the information to show this is an issue.

Quad Bikes: You advised us of your concerns over Quad. I advised I was in contact with the Police and looking for an operational update for our area off the back of the one in Middleton.

Finally, I picked up some personal casework and will work on these.

The key message from tonight. If you have a problem - report it. If you don't, we can't help. Some issues need a lot of reporting to get the time and money need to do anything things. Keep report
